About Brabourne Vineyard

Set in a beautiful village at the foot of the North Downs, Brabourne Vineyard is ideally placed to grow the best quality grapes. Our first harvest of just Pinot Noir in 2017 was followed by a bumper harvest of both Pinot Noir and Chardonnay in 2018. This harvest provided enough grapes for a still Rose, released in 2019, as well as a sparkling White.

Background

A first harvest of just Pinot Noir in 2017 was followed by a bumper harvest of both Pinot Noir and Chardonnay in 2018. This harvest provided enough grapes for a still Rose, released in 2019, as well as a sparkling White.

Pinot Noir and Chardonnay vines were planted in 2014, covering just over two acres in total. This is few enough to tend each vine personally but big enough to be a challenge at times! With a South West facing aspect and heavy clay soil over chalk, the terroir is perfect for producing high quality sparkling whites.

Product Description

Our year is never quiet with pruning taking up much of the winter, the new buds needing tending in May, canopy and weed management through the summer and then the fruit needs protecting from birds and badgers as it ripens through September. In October we pick with the help of local friends and neighbours.
Our wine is made by Oxney Organic Estate. Working with Oxney we are developing a range of sparkling and still wines for Brabourne. “We aim to extract the best from Brabourne’s vineyard, reading and interpreting the grapes to express the terroir in the final product. The results are wines that are wonderfully clean and pure, a natural expression of English wine,” says Salvatore Leone, winemaker at Oxney.

We welcome small groups for tours of our vineyard and tastings – and the opportunity to buy wine from our ‘cellar door’. We’ll make sure that your visit is very personal and tailored to your interests – whether owning a vineyard is a secret ambition or whether you just want to put your feet up whilst enjoying a glass overlooking the vines.

As we’re small and family run, we can never guarantee to be here for drop-ins so it’s safest if you book ahead using the form below. If you are in the area, you’re very welcome to try turning up or phoning to see if we’re around for a tasting.
