About Woodchurch Wine Estate

Graham and Donna Barbour found the perfect site for a vineyard in 2009 and planted 10,000 vines in 2010. The vineyard is 20m above sea level and has the perfect aspect for growing vines. Their first vintage was released in 2015 and they now produce a range of award-winning still and sparkling wines. Woodchurch is a single estate vineyard with over 12 acres of Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Meunier and Bacchus producing award winning wines.

Background

The vineyard is situated on the edge of the picturesque village of Woodchurch in Kent – the garden of England. Set on hills looking south over the ancient Romney marsh down to the English channel, our land has the perfect geography and climate to produce the highest quality grapes and the finest English sparkling wine. It is commonly recognized that southern England now provides the perfect growing conditions for grapes to produce outstanding sparkling wine. This is being demonstrated by an increasing number of international awards for wines from Kent and the southern counties. At Woodchurch Wine Estate, these conditions combine with the perfect location and the right management to enable us to produce the world’s finest sparkling wines. Every step of the vine growing and wine making process is approached with a meticulous attention to detail.

Product Description

The.Woodchurch Wine Estate encourages all kinds of wildlife in the vineyard. We don’t use herbicides or insecticides and we strive to keep any other chemical use to a minimum. We keep the grasses on the perimeter of the vineyard long to promote wildlife and wildflowers. Nature provides a balance, and, in our experience, it has proved better not to interfere with nature. This low intervention approach results in healthier vines leading to higher quality fruit and wines.

Our vision is to create the world’s finest sparkling wines. Every step of the vine growing and wine making process is approached with a meticulous attention to detail. Throughout the year the vines are managed by hand and treated with great care which in turn means the fruit harvested is of the highest quality. Our wine is made in a state of the art winery by one of the UK’s leading winemakers whose philosophy of minimal intervention and diligent approach to wine-making result in superb wines.
