About Domaine Evremond

Champagne Taittinger along with their UK partner Hatch Mansfield Ltd and friends set up Domaine Evremond, by purchasing 69 hectares of farmland at Selling Court Farm in Kent. 40 hectares of this has been planted with Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier grapes to produce sparkling wine..

Background

Domaine Evremond is the realisation of a shared dream to craft exceptional English Sparkling Wine of the highest quality.

In 2015, founders and friends Pierre Emmanuel Taittinger and Patrick McGrath located the perfect site for their collaboration. So began our journey to make a top-quality English Sparkling Wine that reflects the family-focused philosophies of both companies.

"We believe the combination of chalk soils, climate and topography of our site in Kent are ideal for producing quality sparkling wine and are very similar to the terroir in Champagne. We are proud to be the first Champagne house to plant vineyards to grow wines in the UK in collaboration with our dear friends. We believe we can produce a high quality sparkling wine in England drawing upon on our 80 years of winemaking expertise" says Pierre.

Product Description

The land, a former apple farm, is near Chilham in Kent. The 40 hectares to be planted are eighty metres above sea level, have chalk soil and south-facing slopes creating an ideal terroir (soil, microclimate and topography) to plant and grow high quality Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier grapes.

A further 8.5 hectares of vines were planted in May 2019 upon former arable land, with chalk soil and south-facing slopes, comprise Pinot Noir (60%) and Chardonnay (40%), bringing the total area under vine at Domaine Evremond to 28.5 hectares. The first bottles of our joint enture will be available for sale spring 2025.
